BESA Qualification in Flammable Refrigerants
This one-day course is for qualified F-Gas engineers who want to build their knowledge of flammable refrigerants used in modern heat pump systems, including A3 hydrocarbons.
Description
The course covers refrigerant properties, safety requirements, and the precautions needed when installing, servicing and maintaining these systems. It also looks at risk assessment, refrigerant handling, and choosing suitable tools and equipment. The day finishes with an examination to assess your knowledge and understanding.
What You will Learn
- Refrigerant properties and classifications: The characteristics of flammable refrigerants, including A2L and A3.
- Legislation and safety requirements: The relevant requirements and how they apply to your work.
- Risk assessment and safe working: How to recognise hazards and identify the precautions needed.
- Refrigerant handling: Safety considerations for leak detection, charging and recovery.
- Tools and equipment: Selecting equipment suitable for use with flammable refrigerants.
- Fire safety and emergency procedures: Fire prevention measures and how to respond to an incident.
- Environmental considerations: Why the industry is moving towards refrigerants with a lower global warming potential (GWP).
Course Outcome
On successful completion, you will have a clearer understanding of the risks associated with flammable refrigerants and the safety measures needed when working with them.
The qualification builds on your existing F-Gas knowledge and supports your understanding of refrigerants becoming more widely used in heating and refrigeration systems.
Prerequisites
You must hold a valid, in-date Category 1 (2079) F-Gas certificate or an equivalent recognised qualification. Please bring evidence of your qualification with you on the day.
